Great for 1 year old!,
We got several Melissa & Doug Jumbo Knob puzzles for our 13 month old daughter and she loves them! It is easy for her to pick up and she puts the pieces where they belong – not necessarily fitting the shape in but on the same spot as the picture
.
I had looked at other brands of puzzles but found the knobs too small and worried that they might be swallowed if it came off. The Jumbo Knobs in M&D puzzles are screwed on and very secure.

|Great for developmentally delayed children,
I have a 2 year old son with Down syndrome. This puzzle is fantastic for him. The knobs are easy for him to grasp. The puzzle is very durable. He bangs the pieces together and bangs them on the puzzle board. The knobs are still secure and the pieces are not broken or chipped. This puzzle is a great learning tool for him. It teaches him not only where the piece fits in but we also say the name of the animal and make the corresponding sound. I highly recommend this puzzle for toddlers and developmentally delayed children.

|Great First Puzzle,
The puzzle is super cute and colorful. The large knobs make it easy for a one year old to handle the pieces. The only downside is that the wood is pretty soft so if your little one is into banging things around, the puzzle can look worn pretty quickly.
