This is a cute crab, but it is much bigger than I expected it to be (I am posting photos). And although it is described as “Linking Crab” (singular), in the photos it appeared that there would be TWO crabs to link together, a red/orange one and a blue/green one. This is not the case. The SINGLE big crab is red on one side, blue on the other. Also, the black antenna are made of a thread-covered rubber tubing and the ends where the knots are tied are very hard and scratchy, as if they had been “touch-melted” to keep them from fraying. This 1) didn’t work very well (see photo), and 2) is hard and sharp enough to scratch a baby’s delicate skin. I also am not thrilled with the way the product arrived. I expected it would come affixed to the manufacturer’s cardboard backing as pictured, but it came with a tag on the claw in a clear plastic bag, as is visible in the two photos I am posting. This makes me wonder if it is “used.”

we actually purchased this twice, since the first one was lost. My now 7 month old son has really liked this toy since he was 4-5 months old. it’s easy for him to hold and seems to captivate him.

This was my first Melissa & Doug toy, and like it enough I suppose. My 6 month old enjoys it; she likes to gum the links and the legs, and I can attach it to her carseat easily with the links. It is sort of big but it is not heavy, so it is easy for my infant to pick it up. In fact, I kind of like the size because it is different from her other toys. There are only 2 things I dislike about this toy: 1) it is made out of polyester (I would prefer natural fibers), and 2) while it is easily washable (and very durable), lint sticks to the fabric like crazy, so the first time I washed it, it looked old and ratty! So I have to take a lint roller to it every time I wash it, which is annoying.
