Little Tikes Shopping Cart Reviews
I purchased this grocery cart for my 4 year old son and 2 year old daughter and they both LOVE it. I had searched for quite sometime for a sturdy basket and this is it!! It’s tall enough for my 45″ tall son to use comfortably and chunky enough for my 2 year old to push it with ease. Assembling takes a little time but once it was all put together it looked great!! Both kids play with it and often times argue over it. It has a seat for “baby” and that has been a lot of fun for my little girl. My son likes the open space beneath the basket because he can put “soda cans” underneath just like we do at a real grocery store. If you are looking for a grocery cart this is a FANTASTIC one.
Some of you might have read the review that says the cart turns over easily. Well, most of these carts have a plastic plug on them. All you have to do is remove the plug and put some sand in the base of the cart. My child is in physical therapy 4X each week. This is a toy we use in our sessions. Our therapist shared this little hint with me, so I hope someone finds this helpful.
My 14 month old loved pushing this around, but the first day we had it, her head and arm got stuck in the open area underneath the basket, completely immovable. It was difficult to assemble and doesnt feel as sturdy as the older model. We returned this toy.
We put this shopping cart on my daughter’s 1st birthday gift registry. She was just learning to walk, and we wanted to encourage her with a toy that helped her feel like a big girl.
My mother-in-law purchased it, and my daughter took to it immediately. She put her dolls in the seat area, and she went “shopping” all over the house. She even borrowed my little purse and put it on her shoulder!
The basket fits a decent amount of stuff — especially play food — and the open area beneath the main basket allows for even more room.
We have had this for 9 months now, and she still loves it! I can honestly say she has learned from this toy as well because at the grocery store she is very helpful and organizes the items in our real grocery cart (she prefers sitting in the main part, not in the seat, just so she can do this). Then, at the checkout, she is very happy to put them on the conveyor belt to let the girl ring them up.
My only gripe about the toy is that the wheel covers come off. When she turns the cart, the purple covers (they are blue in the image provided by Amazon) just fly off. She’ll stop, pick them up, and either attempt to fix the cart or she’ll just throw them in and keep going. This problem is more annoying than anything, and I’m considering trying superglue to get them to stay on.
I also read a review that mentions the plug in the bottom which can be pulled out for sand to be put in to weigh the cart down (this is done to prevent the cart from tipping). My cart (the pink & purple version) also has the plug, although I have never removed it. We don’t have a problem with her tipping it over, so I see no reason to use this feature yet.
Overall a great product that is lots of fun!
